A closer look at what's inside the INSPIRE Student Leadership Development Program and how it works

7 Leadership Modules
The Student Leadership Development Program currently consists of 7 modules (more to be added as the program is regularly updated with new content). They focus on key themes and/or skill/knowledge areas essential for student leaders to understand and develop.

The 7 leadership modules are:

27 Leadership Lessons

Each module has a series of Lessons within it that are all of varying duration. In total there are 27 lessons for student leaders to complete across the 7 modules. The duration of these lessons range from approximately 5 minutes up to 30+ minutes to watch and listen to. It can take an individual up to one hour to complete the workbook activities. However we also encourage teachers to allow the student leadership group time to collaborate as a team to share their ideas and what they added to their workbook as notes and responses to the activities, This will be especially important for the leadership group to work together to complete a number of activities in the modules in order for the group to reach a consensus view on some issues and tasks that require a whole-group approach.

7 Module Workbooks

Each module has a Module Workbook for student leaders to download and print out. The Module Workbook is to be used to record their notes while listening and watching the module and to then complete the Module Activities in the back of the Workbook.

Module Workbook Activities

The Workbook Activities are practical and hands-on, not theoretical. They are designed to ensure individual student leaders and the student leadership group develop and see their progress as they complete each module.

Comprehensive Supporting Resources

The Resources section of the program is where you’ll find useful resources to support your students’ learning. Resources include:

  • Leadership Case Study
  • Discussion Questions
  • Leadership Learning Journal
  • Student Leader Role Agreement
  • Leadership Quotes
  • Extension Activities

This section is being continually added to so that you can provide ongoing leadership learning for your students.

How Your School Can Gain The Most From the Program

Depending on whether your school already has an existing leadership program or not will determine how you gain the most from the online Student Leadership Development Program.

Let's look at both of these scenarios.

If Your School Has No Leadership Program

If your school does not have a leadership program, then the online Student Leadership Development Program can now be YOUR program.

When you subscribe and receive your individual log-in codes for your students, it will be important for you to allocate time in the week for the students to work through the modules.

You have a couple of options at this point. You can either:

  1. Have your student leaders work through the module lessons and complete the Workbook activities individually, or
  2. Invite your student leaders to complete the lesson individually and then collaborate as a group when it comes time to complete the Module activities
  3. Or a combination of both, depending on the subject matter of the Modules and Lessons and how you wish for them to complete it.

If Your School Already Has a Student Leadership Program

If your school already has a student leadership program, the online Student Leadership Development Program will be the perfect supplement to what you currently provide your student leaders.

The content within the online Student Leadership Development Program is most likely different to what you are currently delivering to your students and in a format that's unique to student leadership development at most schools.

You have total flexibility in the way you use the program as it can be done:

  • Individually
  • In groups
  • As an add-on to your existing material
  • As an inclusion to an existing leadership lesson
  • At home or at school

As you can see, the choice on how you implement the program is entirely up to you based on the needs and availability of your school's staff and students. Whichever way you decide to use the program, the great thing is that it's all been done for you. You don't have to spend hours and hours researching and developing Leadership Learning material - you and your students can literally begin immediately.

What Are the Benefits of Subscribing to the Student Leadership Development Program?

  1. You have immediate access to one of the most comprehensive student leadership programs available anywhere
  2. The content is detailed and immediately applicable - so you can see your students applying it in their leadership roles from the first module
  3. It is delivered online which is consistent with many student's preferred learning style
  4. Free up staff time as the lessons are delivered online - staff do not need to necessarily be delivering the course content as the online learning modules do that for them. However we do encourage staff to spend time with students answering questions as well as facilitating discussion and collaboration among the student leaders as they complete each module Workbook.
  5. Comes complete with a comprehensive set of 7 workbooks, one for each module so student leaders have a place to keep all of their notes and reflections as well as completed activities in the one place as they work through a module.
  6. Each Module Workbook is a fillable PDF. That means the students do not need to print out the workbook. They can download it to their device and type into the document to record their notes and responses to activities.
  7. Trusted leadership program writers and designers. The Centre for Inspired Leadership is a specialist in leadership development with more than 30 years international experience in education and training and professional development. We have been designing and delivering Student Leadership and Staff Leadership programs and resources to schools since 2003 and our resources and programs have been experienced by schools around the world.
  8. No expensive expert facilitators and speakers to hire to speak at your school to run your leadership program
  9. No need to send your student leaders to external workshops, programs and conferences that are well-meaning, but in our experience, rarely achieve any significant sustainable change in behaviour among attendees once they return to school. These events also require students to take time out from their school week to attend and then catch up on work missed as a result of attending the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the course start and finish?
Once the enrolment links are sent to your school following payment of the Tax Invoice, your students have either 12 month, 6 month or 1 month access to the program, depending on what subscription time you have purchased. At the end of the subscription, if you wish for your student leaders of the following year to undertake the program as well, a further subscription can be purchased. As it is a completely self-paced online course, your school can decide when you want your students to access the course during the subscription period.
How long does my school have access to the Student Leadership Development Program?
The Student Leadership Development Program is a subscription based program. The amount of time you have access to the program depends on what subscription you purchase. Our three subscription plans provide either 30 day, 6 month or 12 month access. Your subscription starts the day you are sent your student enrolment links following payment of the Tax Invoice by your school.
What if I am unhappy with the course?
We would never want you to be unhappy! If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, contact us in the first 30 days and we will give you a full refund.
How is the program structured?
The Student Leadership Development Program currently consists of 7 modules and a total of 27 video lessons that are focussed on different themes or skill/knowledge areas of leadership. Each module consists of a series of lessons. Each lesson is of a different duration. The 7 themes covered in the program are: Module 1: What is Leadership Module 2: The Behaviours and Characteristics of Effective Leaders Module 3: Creating the Role of the Student Leader Module 4: Applying Leadership at School and Beyond Module 5: Managing Friendships, Peers and Leadership Module 6: How to Manage Time and Achieve More as a Leader Module 7: Becoming a Visionary Leader. In addition there is a comprehensive Resources section located in the curriculum which consists of case studies, extension activities, templates and much much more. These are optional to complete, and are added to allow schools to customise the learning experience for their students. We will be adding further modules, lessons and resources to the program which you will be able to access as part of your subscription as soon as they are produced.
Can my school purchase just individual modules or lessons from the program?
Unfortunately no. This program has been developed based on the latest knowledge and research in leadership and has been designed to be a complete leadership development program. It is structured in a particular developmental sequence so that students gain the most from their learning. Therefore it is important for student leaders to complete each module in order for them to develop a solid understanding of leadership and be prepared to act as a leader at your school.
How much does a subscription cost?
The INSPIRE Program now comes with unlimited student licences. This means as many students as you wish can now participate in the Program. We have three subscription options for schools. 1. Annual Subscription: $797 (AUD) per year. 2. 6 Month Subscription: $497. 3. Monthly/30 day subscription: $197 per month. All prices include GST.
Our school only has a small number of student leaders. Can we have a reduced price for just the student leaders we have?
As we have three subscriptions available, you may prefer to subscribe to either the 6 month or 1 month subscription option, as these are less expensive than the 12 month subscription.
When can my students get started with the course?
Once you purchase your school's subscription and the Tax Invoice is paid, the teacher will be able to access the program immediately. Within 48 hours you will receive an email from us with your student enrolment links. Once you distribute the links to each student they can enrol in the INSPIRE Student Leadership Development Program and get started with module one.
Will our school get access to any updates to the program while we are subscribed to the INSPIRE program?
Yes. We will be making regular updates to the program throughout the year. This may be in the form of new modules and lessons, as well as additional leadership resources. such as articles, videos, worksheets and activities. Every time we add anything to the program or update the program at all, we will notify you by email so you know exactly what's new and where you can find it. You can then invite your student leaders to make the most of the new content.
How many students can complete the program?
From 2021, all subscriptions (12 month, 6 month and 1 month) come with UNLIMITED student licences. That means you can invite as many students to participate in the program as you wish from both the senior year as well other year levels where you feel it is appropriate. For example, the program gives you the flexibility to have your senior Student Leaders complete all the modules and lessons, while students from younger year levels complete selected modules and lessons which the coordinator has identified.
